Painters of Altamira

The people who painted Altamira are unidentified. They depicted animals on uneven cave surfaces, using projections of rock to suggest volume. The ceiling's polychrome paintings date to roughly 15,000–13,000 years ago. The images, pigments and working marks provide evidence of their makers.
