John Everett Millais

Millais entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1840 at the age of eleven. Early meetings of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood took place in his studio in 1848. His position later changed. In 1863 he became a full Royal Academician, joining the institution whose practices the young Brotherhood had criticised.
