Meindert Hobbema

Hobbema trained with Jacob van Ruisdael and repeatedly adapted landscape motifs associated with his teacher. Watermills appear in more than thirty paintings. Repetition allowed him to rearrange trees, buildings and roads within a familiar rural setting.
