Edvard Munch

After a year of engineering studies, Munch entered an art school in Kristiania. His career lasted more than sixty years. He participated in Symbolism during the 1890s and later became a pioneer of Expressionism. Returning to subjects in paintings and prints, he varied colour, contour and the simplification of figures.
