Gustave Caillebotte
1848–1894

Caillebotte participated in Impressionism as a painter, collector and patron. He bought works by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne and other contemporaries. The state initially accepted only part of his bequest, which later helped establish recognition for the new French painting.
