Francisco Goya
1746–1828

Goya trained with José Luzán in Zaragoza and Francisco Bayeu in Madrid. Appointed court painter in 1786, he became First Painter to Charles IV in 1799. Court commissions coexisted with responses to war and repression. He moved to Bordeaux in 1824.
