Paul Cezanne
1839–1906

Cézanne began studying law in Aix at his father's wish, then left for Paris in 1861. He met Pissarro there and later worked alongside him in Pontoise and Auvers. He exhibited with the Impressionists in 1874 and 1877 before withdrawing after hostile criticism.
